Katie had a terrific spring season for the Wilson Central Wildcats. She had a .562 batting average with 73 hits, 60 RBI's, 23 doubles, and 4 home runs with just 8 strikeouts in 150 plate appearances. The Wildcats won the Class AAA State Champion this year with a record of 41-7-1.
I am proud to say that I have been Katie's hitting coach for her entire career. Baseball was Katie's sport of choice until she entered middle school at West Wilson. While playing youth baseball, she dominated the boys in her age group with her arm as a pitcher and with her bat. When she made the transition to fastpitch softball, she never missed a beat. Many people in the softball community thought she would have a tough time transitioning as a hitter from baseball to softball without making some major swing changes. I never changed her swing or her style of hitting. As you can see, Katie led her high school team in hitting while also leading them to their first Class AAA State Championship!

First High School Career Homerun!
Last night Katie hit the 1st homerun of her high school career against district rival Beech. It was a blast over the center-field fence against freshmen Ashley Graves who transferred to Beech from Mt. Juliet before the season. The two have faced-off several times since Katie made the switch from baseball to fastpitch softball the last year and a half. Katie is one of the best young hitters in Mt. Juliet and Ashley was probably the best young pitcher in Mt. Juliet. 4/16/13
